How should I store my coffee, tea, and boba kits?

Storing Coffee:

  • Roasted coffee does not like moisture, heat, light, or air.
  • Never refrigerate coffee – It will lose its flavor.
  • Coffee is freshest within about two weeks of roasting.
  • If you want to freeze it make sure it is whole beans and divide your coffee into weekly portions. Make sure to take out as much as air possible and once taken out of the freezer do not put it back in to the freezer.

Storing Tea:

  • Like coffee, store your tea away from moisture, heat, light, air, and odor.
  • Store in a dark cabinet and keep delicate teas separate from strongly scented teas. Avoid storing tea in humid areas of your kitchen and house.

Storing Boba Kits:

  • Any loose-leaf tea or tea powders can be stored in areas that avoid heat, moisture, and constant exposure to light.
  • Use until expiration date as marked on the package.
  • Opened syrups may be stored in the refrigerator and used until the expiration date on the jars.

What are the brewing ratios?

Coffee:

  • A good rule of thumb to follow is a 1:15 ratio of coffee to water. So, for every 1 gram of coffee, add 15 grams of water, which converts to about 3 tablespoons of coffee for every 1 cup of water.

Tea:

  • Black Teas: Steep your gourmet tea in boiling water for 3-5 minutes.
  • Green Teas: Steep your gourmet tea in boiling water for 2-3 minutes.
  • Herbal Teas: Steep your gourmet tea in boiling water for 5-10 minutes.

How long do tapioca pearls last?

  • Uncooked, raw tapioca pearls may last until the expiration date on the package. Please store in a dry, cool area in an air tight bag. Do not store them in the refrigerator or freezer. Also, avoid storing in direct sunlight or heat.
  • Cooked tapioca pearls should be served within 4-6 hours after they are cooked. Sadly, they do not taste as fresh or chewy after 4 hours.

Is tapioca gluten free?

  • Yes, our tapioca pearls are from tapioca starch which is from the cassava plant and is gluten free.

What are some allergens I should be aware of?

Please note that the Boba Kits are repackaged in a facility that may contain the following:

  • Allergens: milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, wheat, peanuts, and soybeans
  • For any other allergen concerns, please check the product photos on the product page as well as the packaging for exact ingredients.

  • If you do not receive all of your orders within 5-7 business days please contact us at info@bobabeans.cafe.

Tapioca Pearls

  • Tapioca pearls are very fragile before they have been cooked. During shipment, some may break since they are very fragile in their dry form.

Environment:

How do boba tea kits help with the environment?

  • At Boba Beans Café, we are aware of the massive amounts of plastic waste in society. We know that our boba tea kits are not the entire solution to this huge problem. Most café drinks only last a few minutes and add to the plastic waste. But you shouldn’t have to give up enjoying your favorite drinks.
  • Our products are here to raise awareness about our planet’s plastic pollution problem and a solution requires us to be proactive about it, even if it’s something small. We believe that everyone is trying their best and we want to help our consumers by giving you an opportunity to be part of the solution to the plastic pollution waste crisis, one step at a time.

How is your packaging eco-friendly?

  • We work with suppliers that care about the environment like we do so that our boba tea kits are packaged in eco-friendly material.
  • At the moment, the bags are made with PLA (Apolyastic Acid) making them compostable. This means that these bags should enter an industrial composting facility to fully degrade into organic matter. If your city has a composting facility, place these products in your compost collection bins to be picked up. Compostable products will typically degrade in 30-120 days in an industrial composter, depending on the product size and material used.
  • If your city doesn't provide industrial composting, you can dispose of compostable products in your backyard or home composter, but they will take longer to degrade.
  • Do not put compostables into your recycling! They are not recyclable and will contaminate the recycling process. If you do not have access to a compost facility or a home composter, dispose of the compostables in the garbage. This option should be your last resort as waste does not easily biodegrade in landfills.
  • Our boba straws are also eco-friendly and are made out of bamboo which make them last longer for your boba tea needs.
